Pretty Pantries and Lovely Larders!

Thursday 21 November

Larders and pantries have been a standard feature in kitchens across the world for centuries and in the last few years they have enjoyed a revival, becoming a must-have item in today’s modern kitchen.

The traditional pantry is a small, cool storage room used to keep food fresh and was long since replaced by the refrigerator but larder cupboards are now high on people’s list of kitchen must haves.

If we think about it, having a larder makes perfect sense. All food goods are stored in one place not in various cupboards around the kitchen, making being organised, seeing what you have and putting the food shopping away much easier.

Another advantage of a larder cupboard is that the kitchen no longer needs to be full of wall cupboards giving much greater flexibility to the design of the kitchen that is perfect for today’s trend of open plan living.

Kitchen pantries and larders are available in all shapes and sizes, they all have the ability to store a range of food in a combination of drawers, pull-out baskets, shelves and racks, they are often full height, though can be wide or half height.

You can buy a standard off the shelf size or have one made to your own specifications and configuration, that could be a spacious double or corner unit or a simple half height, pull out version.

A corner unit is a compact option when you don’t have space for a large larder. It allows you to access everything with ease and means you can incorporate different storage into your kitchen design.

Which ever option suits your kitchen and budget larder cupboards are a great idea that is here to stay.
