Kitchen Worktops - the Options

As a bespoke kitchen manufacturer, we can offer a huge range of kitchen worktops, including Granite, Corian, Dekton, Quartz (Silestone) and solid wood.

When considering a kitchen worktop think about how you use your kitchen, do you use the surface for baking, do you often take dishes straight from the oven to rest on the work surface, or do you use lots of spices that could stain? Different types of work surfaces are more suited to some cooking styles and methods. The best option is a combination of style, beauty and practicality.

There are advantages and disadvantages to different types of work surfaces. For example, if you enjoy cooking consider a heat-resistant material, this could be just around your hob or for all the kitchen surfaces. This will enable you to move hot pots and pans straight from the oven to the worktop.

Budget needs to be a consideration too. You may have a solid surface on your wish list; however, if your budget won’t stretch to that there are some stunning alternatives. Some examples of the worktops Fine Finish supply include:

Silestone

Silestone kitchen worktops are composed of 94% natural quartz, which is naturally hard and resilient. Silestone worktops have a high stain and acidity resistance; they are incredibly durable, hygienic and scratch resistant. These surfaces are uniform in colour and pattern and they do not need sealing. Silestone is available in a wide range of colours and textures.

Solidwood worktops

A solid wood worktop will add warmth, homeliness and character to your kitchen and if well looked after (sealed and maintained), it can last a lifetime. Wood suits a wide range of kitchen styles. A wooden worktop will scratch and scorch, so care does need to be taken however, it can be repaired and refinished to look like new.

Corian Worktops

Corian is seamless; it can be moulded into any shape and is incredibly hard wearing. Corian worktops are cool to the touch, have an elegant smooth surface which is extremely hygienic. Corian is great if you are adding curves, sinks can be moulded into it and it’s perfect if you’d like a curved upstand in the same material as the work surface.

Laminate Worktops

Laminate worktops are cost-effective, versatile and available in a wide range of colours and styles including some that closely resemble other materials including granite, stone and wood. Laminate worktops are easy to clean and maintain.

Dekton Worktops

Dekton is a hard wearing, durable and scratch & heat resistant. Dekton is very robust, an industrial style material. It is the only surface that you can put hot pots and pans onto directly.

Granite Worktops

Granite is a natural, practical, beautiful material that can give a lifetime of service and requires little maintenance. If you choose granite you can go along to our suppliers and choose the piece you want for your kitchen.

As Fine Finish are bespoke kitchen manufacturers there is no need to have the same worktop everywhere if you do not want to, you can create zones/areas within your kitchen using different worktop materials, colours and textures. As part of the kitchen design process, we can incorporate sinks, boiling water taps, sunken hobs, lights and sockets into your worktop.

We have many different worktops on display in our showroom, pop in to view them. You can also call us on 0115 984 4121 or contact us here via the website.
