Holiday entertaining with Fine Finish Furniture

Whether you’re preparing to entertain family members or friends this upcoming holiday season or looking for an alternative arrangement for your family this Christmas, we have come up with some excellent ideas for making your house guests comfortable whether sleeping, dining or popping over for some after dinner entertainment.

A warm welcome

Make the entrance to your home more inviting and practical by removing clutter in order to give it a more open plan and spacious feel. Consider hanging a large wall mirror to open up space as they reflect light and can make your hallway seem larger, also perfect for some last minute preening before you answer the door, or why not add a coat tree for somewhere where guests can hang their coats and feel instantly at ease?

Don’t forget to add Christmas decorations in the entrance to help set the festive mood once guests enter your home.

Living room focus

This could be anything from a Christmas tree to a fireplace. Try not to seat you guests around a television as this will prevent conversation, although make sure yours is set up on an adequate television stand to all gather round and watch the Queen’s speech.

More than one focal point and a room can start to appear too cramped, cluttered and busy which can be unsettling for guests.

Social space

Assist conversation among guests whether family or friends by opening up space to socialise. The holiday season is often the one opportunity where everyone is brought together and has the opportunity to catch up on the events of the 12 months past, so consider moving your sofa and armchairs around into a U-shape or around a coffee table, which will also offer an area for guests to pop drinks and nibbles when they are talking.

After dinner dining chairs can even be moved into the living room to provide additional seating, we have some comfortable and stylish options available which will last for many Christmases to come.

Nesting tables also come in handy for setting down drinks and food, when a coffee table is too far away from seating areas.

Dining

Whether you have planned a grand dinner on Christmas day or just want to set out a buffet table then we have options to suit all. Consider a sideboard which can be set at the side of a room for buffets or a large dining table, where chair can be pulled away to make room for guests to serve their food.

A rectangular, solid wood dining table can provide the perfect space even at a formal dining occasion with open space to pull crackers, socialise and say cheers, we even offer extendable dining tables for times when there are more guests than expected.
