This client was renovating their family home in Ollerton, Nottingham, They came to Fine Finish for a master bedroom refurbishment. The house has a hipped roof so the bedroom has some interesting angles; the clients knew that they needed something bespoke. The brief was to design, build and install stylish, modern wardrobes. They wanted to maximise storage and needed a range of hanging and shelving space.
The customer liked the free standing range of furniture called Lundy but wanted (and to maximise storage space) they needed fitted wardrobes. Fine Finish replicated the design and made fitted wardrobes in the range they liked. Three double wardrobes with a mixture of hanging rails, drawers and shelving plus a single mid height wardrobe in the dormer window were installed. The colour of the wardrobes is Truffle with natural oak cornice.
The wardrobes are built into the hip of the roof, this means there is an angle to the walls and the wardrobes are 900mm deep. This extra depth gives room for shelving behind the hanging rail. The shelving behind is used for shoes etc. The unit on the left is narrower which is why it is given to shelving only.
We supplied two bedside cabinets to match the wardrobes; we ordered these from the free standing furniture supplier. The tops of the bedside cabinets are natural oak that matches the cornice on the wardrobes. All the wardrobes have interior lighting that comes on when the doors open.
Key Design Features
The main design feature in this bedroom is that the centre wardrobe is stepped forward. This adds detail and interest to the front of the wardrobes. One of the wardrobes has a built in laundry basket in the bottom of one corner. The unit slides in and out for easy access and eliminates the need to have a laundry basket in the room.
If you see something you like it is worth talking to a bespoke manufacturer to see what they can do. This fitted bedroom was designed and built to match a standalone, discontinued piece of furniture that the client spotted in a corner of the showroom.
