The clients had recently moved into their new home near Coalville in Leicestershire and were renovating the entire house, which was dated and hadn’t been modernised for some time, the fitted wardrobes in the master bedroom being no exception. The brief to Fine Finish Furniture was to design, build and install new contemporary fitted wardrobes that look great, maximise storage space and provide space for lots of shoes and a safe.
The customers liked the Kindred Sculpt range of wardrobes but wanted some slight differences so we made bespoke furniture based on the look of the Kindred Sculpt range. All the furniture is handless and soft close. The colour is alabaster units with solid wood tops. We built three double wardrobes, a shoe cupboard, a dressing table and two bedside cabinets. The wardrobes are a combination of hanging space and shelving, though the majority is shelving. The shelves have fitted LED lighting underneath them.
As the room is in a hipped roof space, we were able to create a walk in section to the wardrobes where the room went back into an alcove. This became the shoe cupboard and fitted the brief perfectly!
Key Design Features
The dressing table has integrated laundry baskets. It looks like three drawers when closed, when open it has a frame built inside from which two laundry baskets are suspended.
The walk in section of the wardrobe is an L Shape with fixed shelfs. There is a section for a safe, shelves for storing jumpers and a shoe section to the right. The customer found some slot in shoe inserts that they liked and we built the shelf height based on these.
A lovely touch is using the same wood that is fitted on the tops of all the units to the window sill; this gives continuity of design and looks great. If something is bespoke and not from a standard range then new or additional pieces can be built at a later date, the range won’t be dis-continued or out of stock.
