The Brief

This customer had a fantastic, large open plan space in a very modern home. They wanted a sleek, contemporary kitchen, with clean lines that flowed into the connected living area.

The Solution

The customers choose the Fine Finish Stanton In Frame kitchen in Farrow and Ball colours ammonite and hague blue. An in frame kitchen is where a frame is attached to the front edge of the kitchen unit and the doors are then placed inside the frame so that they open within it.

Because of the open plan nature of the kitchen an island works really well. It provides more storage, more working space, a power socket has been installed into the island and it creates a seating area. The island is the striking hague blue and the splash back is the same colour, which draws attention to the island.

Design Features

An island works really well in a large, open plan kitchen.

Mid level units with feature shelves provide display and storage space but also break up and give interest to a large bank of units.

Top Tips

Consider using the same material as the kitchen worktops for the window sill. It works really well in this kitchen as the worktop and the window sill are the same height. Using the same material for the window sill gives additional space around the sink area.

The use of mid height units allows display of personal items as well as keeping the overall space feeling open.
