THE BRIEF
Our customer asked us to collaborate with their interior designer, Laura Gray Interiors, to design a media wall which would include a flat screen TV, built in speakers, inset electric fire, storage, display shelving and an air conditioning unit. This would be situated in their open plan living room, adjacent to the family kitchen and dining area.
THE SOLUTION AND KEY DESIGN FEATURES
We designed this bespoke cabinetry and spray-finished it in ‘Cactus’ by Neptune Paints, carefully selected to complement the dining room on the opposite side of the kitchen. The result is a cohesive flow of colour that ties the two spaces together beautifully.
The central section of the unit, positioned behind the television, has been cleverly hinged to provide discreet access to the air-conditioning system when required. Hidden hinges ensure the mechanism remains completely concealed, preserving the clean, streamlined aesthetic.
Integrated lighting has been inset into each shelf, creating a warm, inviting ambience in the evenings while subtly highlighting family photographs and treasured ornaments.
A contemporary electric fire has been seamlessly incorporated into the design, perfect for cosy evenings spent relaxing with friends or enjoying a film. Generous storage on either side provides practical space for board games and toys, keeping the room organised without compromising on style.
Altogether, this thoughtfully designed piece balances functionality with elegance — a timeless addition created to be enjoyed for years to come.
TOP TIPS
Incorporate discreet access panels into your cabinetry design. By hinging the section behind the TV with hidden hinges, you can easily reach essential systems like air-conditioning without disrupting the clean lines or overall aesthetic of the room.
