The Brief

This family with three young children had recently moved into their Victorian property in Newark, Nottinghamshire. They had alterations and extensions to the rear of the property to create a large family kitchen/dining area. The customer wanted the kitchen to retain some characteristics of the Victorian era with an updated modern twist. The customer had put a mood board together which she brought into the showroom on the first visit.

The Solution

We designed a bespoke door taking inspiration from the mood board. This is not a door that we had produced before. It was designed and produced specially for this customer. The doors are smooth and sleek; with concealed hinges, the handles are manufactured into the door. The dark green colour of the units is coloured matched from a green painted block of wood that the customer brought in to us. The door handles have an oak wood grain finish.

The island and the larder have been designed and fitted around the split-level floor and vertical supporting steel. Two seats were incorporated into the island without compromising on storage.

The worktops and upstands are 20mm Dekton in the colour, Kreta. The kitchen is fitted with a pull out larder storage unit and integrated bins. The sink is a double Belfast sink, it is a top mounted 900 butlers sink. The taps are by Perrin and Rowe.

Key Design Features

There are lots of design features of this kitchen, the design is built exclusively for the customer, it can be created again but this kitchen is pretty unique. The construction of units around the split level floor and supporting beam have given the required storage and layout that the customer wanted whilst working with the different levels.

The black floating shelving are a nice addition, the colour ties in with the exterior of the house, we made and installed these. Though only a minor detail, integrated bins work very well when going for sleek lines and contemporary design.
