Bespoke Media Wall Design in an Open Plan Living Room

Custom Media Wall Design Solution

We created a bespoke fitted media wall unit using precision-made cabinetry, spray finished in “Cactus” by Neptune Paints. This carefully selected colour was chosen to complement the dining area on the opposite side of the open plan kitchen, creating a cohesive interior design flow throughout the space.

This approach ensures the media wall does not feel like a standalone feature but instead becomes part of a unified open plan interior scheme.

Hidden Access with Concealed Air Conditioning Panel

A key feature of this custom media wall design is the discreet access solution behind the television.

The central section of the unit has been engineered with hidden hinges, allowing the panel to open when required to access the air conditioning system. When closed, the mechanism is completely invisible, preserving a flawless, minimalist finish.

Incorporating hidden hinged panels behind the TV or cabinetry sections allows easy access to systems such as:

• Air conditioning units
• Electrical wiring
• Internet routers
• AV equipment

This makes the design both highly functional and maintenance-friendly, without compromising on aesthetics.

Integrated Lighting Design

To enhance atmosphere and visual interest, we installed integrated LED lighting within each shelving recess.

This creates:

• Soft ambient evening lighting
• Highlighted display areas for décor and family photos
• A warm, inviting living room atmosphere
• Subtle architectural depth within the cabinetry

Lighting plays a key role in elevating this cabinetry, turning it into a feature that feels both practical and luxurious

Integrated Electric Fire 

At the heart of the design sits a sleek contemporary inset electric fire, seamlessly built into the media wall structure.

This provides:

• A cosy focal point for winter evenings
• A modern alternative to traditional fireplaces
• A balanced visual anchor beneath the TV
• Added warmth and comfort in open plan living spaces

Built-In Storage for Family Homes

Practicality was a major consideration in this project. We incorporated bespoke storage cabinets on either side of the media wall, designed specifically for family living.

These storage units provide space for:

• Board games
• Toys and children’s items
• Media equipment and accessories
• Everyday household storage

This ensures the living space remains clutter-free while maintaining a clean, high-end finish.
