This couple had an extension to their home in Newark, Nottingham that created a new kitchen/diner and utility room. They visited Fine Finish during the build phase. They knew they wanted an island in the kitchen but were not sure of the size, as the building work wasn’t complete we were able to visit their home and mark out the ideal size for the island prior to all the walls going in. Another requirement for the kitchen was low level and easily accessible storage. They wanted a modern look with a twist, something a little different.
The customers choose soft close, acrylic kitchen units; Unity Gloss in Fjord Metallic colour. The kitchen was designed without too many high/wall units. The oven is set slighter lower than most kitchens to match the customers’ requirements. The tall units either side of the ovens house a fridge and freezer. The wall to construct the utility was constructed after we had agreed the perfect size for the island, which has space for two seats. The worktops are Silestone Bianco Stellar, 30mm with a bullnose profile. The island has a lovely drawer and shelf detail. The hob has a black glass splash back to match the appliances.
There are some great storage solutions in this kitchen; there are drawer storage solutions, LeMans corner trays and small larder fit systems in the island cupboards all are from Kessebohmer.
The shelves in this kitchen are a particularly nice feature; they are a natural oak with integrated strip lighting. The cabling for the lighting was done as part of the building work prior to the kitchen installation. The windowsill and inside of the shelf in the island tie in with the wall shelves – great detail.
High gloss acrylic kitchens have a glass like finish that creates beautiful reflections and shine and is flawlessly smooth. A slight word of caution they will show up finger marks a little bit, which might be worth thinking about if you have little ones.
