The Brief

This customer had a good-sized kitchen/diner with separate utility at their home near Newark in Nottinghamshire. The previous kitchen was dated and the layout didn’t work for the family or make best use of the space. The brief was to re-configure the space and make the kitchen work around the appliances, the customer wanted a large American style fridge/freezer and a double oven. They wanted a fresh, practical, modern, sociable space with a quality, luxurious feel.

The Solution

The customer choose the Shaker Style Broadoak Painted kitchen cabinets for both the kitchen and the utility with a brushed ‘cuff’ handle. These cabinets are painted oak rather than a veneered finish. The colour of the units is Stone. The worktops, splashback and windowsill are all stunning Fantasia Black Granite. The U-shaped kitchen features floor to ceiling units on the wall that houses the fridge/freezer and double oven. The kitchen units have been fitted with warm white spot under cabinet lighting. The kitchen and Utility both have Perrin and Rowe pewter finish taps, the kitchen also has a hot water tap.

This kitchen has a range of great storage solutions by Hafele including corner units, a larder unit and pull out bins in both the kitchen and utility.

Design Features

The extractor fan that the customer choose is not only functional but a fantastic feature in this kitchen the warm colour picks up the tones in the worktops and adds a real wow factor. The granite worktops work really well and the premium stone creates a stunning, bespoke worktop, it is attractive, glossy and gives a quality, luxurious feel, the black looks striking with the other colours.

All the end panels of the units are tongue and groove which works very well with the modern, horizontal designer radiators.

Top Tips

There is a piece of granite on top of the worktop, if you would like one of these for your kitchen in the same material as the worktop they need to be ordered along with the rest of the kitchen, they are not off-cuts that are readily available.

If you purchase from an independent kitchen manufacturer, they should be able to design and build any matching furniture you need or want. For example, we made a matching bookcase in the same colours and style for this family.
